die Band aus Portland, Oregon tut. So lässt sich das Quartett in einem Pressefoto eindeutig als die unheilsschwere, im Verfall begriffene Familie aus Ji-woon-Kims beklemmendem Meisterwerk "A Tale
Of Two Sisters" darstellen und hat in Zac Pennington einen Falsettisten als Sänger, der die lästigen Grenzen zwischen den Geschlechtern spielerisch aufhebt, um etwas Ungehörtes zu erschaffen. Das
kurze Titelstück klingt beinahe wie eine Ballett-Suite von Dmitri Dmitrijewitsch Schostakowitsch, doch auch Naheliegenderes wie Penderecki, Xiu Xiu oder Final Fantasy dürften den fabelhaften

Die SIC ALPS sind neben THEE OH SEES die wichtigsten Vertreter der Post-Garage-Szene San Franciscos. Nach mehreren Alben und Singles auf kleinen US-Labels haben sie in Drag City (Bill Callahan, Bonnie „Prince“ Billie, Joanna Newsom) ein perfektes Zuhause gefunden, um mi ihrer spannenden Mischung aus 60s-Psych-Pop, Neo-Folk und Noise ein größeres Publikum zu erreichen. Dies konnten sie schon während einer Tour mit SONIC YOUTH unter Beweis stellen. PAVEMENT sind Riesenfans und haben sie für ihre ausverkauften Reunion-Shows in London und auf dem von ihnen kuratierten ATP-Festival in Minehead/UK verpflichtet.
Die neue 7inch erschien auf Slumberland Records (u.a. The Pains of Being Pure At Heart, Brilliant Colors, Crystal Stilts und Black Tambourine).
Kristof Schreuf (geboren 1963 in Frankfurt am Main, wohnt jetzt in Hamburg) war Sänger und Texter von Kolossale Jugend, einer der Ausnahmebands der sogenannten Hamburger Schule.
Seit den 90er Jahren schreibt er für diverse Zeitschriften, z.B. Spex, TAZ und Junge Welt. Nach dem Ende von Kolossale Jugend gründete Schreuf 1995 die Band Brüllen. Mit ihnen hat er ein Album
veröffentlicht und arbeitet seit einiger Zeit an einem neuen. Auf dem Fidel-Bastro-Label-Sampler "zehn" von 1997 hört man ihn mit einem Lied nur von einer Akustikgitarre begleitet.
2003 wurde er von Iris Radisch für den Bachmannpreis vorgeschlagen. Er las den Text "Wahrheit ist das wovon Männer gerne behaupten, dass es ihnen um sie geht." Er schreibt an dem Buch Anfänger
beim Rocken, das in der „Edition Suhrkamp“ erscheinen soll.
Im September 2007 veröffentlichte der Schriftsteller Franz Dobler eine Platte unter dem Titel "Wo ist zu Hause, Mama?" Nur für diesen Anlass hat sich Schreuf kurzfristig mit zwei Freunden zu der
Band "Rock" zusammengetan, um das Stück "Nur Worte gehen weiter als ich" aufzunehmen.
Für die NDR-Dokumentarfilme „My Generation-Der Sound der Revolte“ und „Disco Love Machine – Im Beat liegt die Sehnsucht“ von Oliver Schwabe, interpretiert Schreuf Disko-Klassiker neu und auf
akkustische Weise.
Seine erste Soloplatte „Bourgeois With Guitar” (das von Tobias Levin im Hamburger Electric Avenue Studio produziert wurde) knüpft an seinen Coverversionen-Ausflug an ,und ist im April 2010
bei Buback Tonträger erschienen.

Mit KEN ist nach Blackmail das nächste, große Projekt von Aydo Abay den Kinderschuhen entwachsen und bahnt sich seinen Weg durch den Dschungel der Musik. KEN ist nicht nur eine Band, sondern ein intensives Zusammenwirken hochbegabter und kreativer Musiker, allesamt mit Rang und Namen. Der sympathische Sänger mit der markanten Stimme widmete sein gesamtes Herzblut der neuesten Platte Yes We, und das hört man. Mit Ideen und persönlichen Einschlägen eines jeden Bandmitglieds entwickelte sich ein Meisterwerk mit Stücken aus Pop, Spacerock, Elektronik und Postpunk. Kissogram ist eine Deutsche Band aus Berlin, die 1999 gegründet wurde. Die Band gehört neben Stereo Total, Jeans Team, Bonaparte zu den wichtigsten
Vertretern der Berliner Independent-Pop-Szene. Stilistisch kann man sie in der Nähe von New Wave oder Disco verorten, wobei sie auch Elemente aus Rock'n'Roll und Blues verwenden.
Die Gründer von Kissogram, Jonas Poppe und Sebastian Dassé, haben auch in den Projekten The Sitcom Warriors und Davos zusammen gespielt. Schlagzeuger Joe Dilworth spielte auch bei Add N to X,
Stereolab, Faith Healers und Cat Power.

Bronnt Industries Kapital is the work of UK-based producer and multi-instrumentalist Guy Bartell, who has spent eight years exploring deep frosts of electro-acoustic melancholy, slow-burning sonic terrain and uncharted detours into the absurd. ‘Hard For Justice’ is his third full-length and fully illuminated album, for which he has drawn as much inspiration from myriad marginal movies as from the dance roots of Krautrock, striking a likeable partnership with German dance label Get Physical. Bronnt labours a lust for long-forgotten cinema in ‘Hard For Justice’, resurrecting an era of psychotronic exploitation, Italo-crime and no-budget action thrillers, such as The Beyond, Deadbeat at Dawn, Profondo Rosso, and the towering sound-visions of John Carpenter. Live shows find Bartell launching a disco assault utilizing cosmic synthesizer rock and low slung bass guitar. Bronnt’s first album Virtute et Industria, released in 2005 by revered UK independent imprint Static Caravan, created a gas-lit sound world populated by clockwork Victorian automatons spinning dancehall and techno on a set of battered gramophones. This was followed by Haxan, a bespoke soundtrack to the 1920s silent witchcraft movie of the same name commissioned by Tartan Films in 2007, which complemented this stunning cult film with a score that ranged from minimalist piano lullabies to lush full orchestral pieces, heavenly analog sound collages to hellish electrical miasmas. Arrington de Dionyso uses performance as a vehicle for driving through the nameless territories held between surrealist automatism, shamanic seance, and the folk imagery of rock and roll. Arrington performs on the bass clarinet, jaw harps, and his voice with a distinctly multiphonic ability inspired by Tuvan throatsinging and the ecclesiastics of Albert Ayler and Don Van Vliet. Pushing the envelope between musicality and pure energy, between shamanic ecstacy and lunacy, he enwraps rooms with resonant sound. He tours constantly, and has performed or/and recorded with notable improvisers throughout the U.S.A., Canada, Italy, France, Israel, Argentina and Japan. He presents workshops on improvising with the voice in conjunction with his travels around the world.

LAKE is a group of cloudy individuals brought together through lines drawn along Interstate-5, intersecting in olympia on or around 2005. The Cemetery of Reason is conceived as a mid-career retrospective of the American artist Ed Templeton. The S.M.A.K. will be assembling into dazzling clusters of images the photos, paintings and sculptures he has done over the last fifteen years.
The exhibition tells the story of a pro skateboarder, a photographer, a drawer, a painter, etc. A story which, although it focuses on his own life and those of the people around him, transcends
the autobiographical and exposes social and societal phenomena unhesitatingly but without pointing a finger.
Ed Templeton’s (b. 1972) work cannot easily be categorised. He was brought up in Orange County, a suburb of Los Angeles, and spent his youth in a world of skateboarding and punk music. While
still very young he became a professional skateboarder and at the age of 21 set up his Toy Machine, a Bloodsucking Skateboard Company, for which he did all the artwork. From an early age
he was passionate about drawing and painting, and was enormously stimulated by the work of Egon Schiele, Lucas Cranach, Balthus and David Hockney. Photography has also always been a constant
interest. In the beginning he used his analogue camera as a recorder to capture inspiring images. In the mid-nineties he also started using it as a medium in its own right and since then his
photos have been an integral part of his work. In the same way as he was never able to choose between skateboarding and being an artist – they fuel each other – nor has he ever been able to limit
himself to one particular medium. Photos, paintings and sculptures complement each other, and are of equal worth, without hierarchy. Templeton often describes his drawings, photos and paintings
by means of anecdotes, feelings and ideas that give a new, more profound interpretation to the images. When assembled in an exhibition, these images are deployed as parts of a broader story, but
without losing their artistic independence.
Templeton mainly documents his own life and that of the people around him. He does portraits of himself and his wife Deanna, friends, family and the many people he meets on his skateboard tours.
The photos he takes do not focus on skating itself, but on all the associated activities. The boys and girls who hang around near a skate park, the boredom of touring, the bloody falls, the
late-night parties and the intimate encounters with his wife in anonymous hotel rooms. His career as a pro skateboarder means he spends a lot of time with youngsters who are at an uncertain phase
of discovery in their lives. With dreams, hope, worries, the formation of identity and the presentation of the self to the fore. Templeton is ‘one of them’, a pro skate legend and an ‘example’.
This gives him the opportunity to come very close to the world they live in and to record it. He depicts their sexuality, fears, aggression, joy and problems but does not judge them. Although his
photo installations and paintings are often highly autobiographical, Templeton at no time tries to deal with his own difficult youth. On the contrary, he wants to create openness and offer
insights and opportunities to those who want to grasp them.
The Cemetery of Reason takes the form of a whirlwind of photos, sculptures, drawings and paintings. In some cases, images are clustered by subject and reveal certain phenomena or events,
but not in an imperative manner.
Vocalist, multi-instrumentalist and songwriter/producer Xantoné Blacq's music is a sonic adventure fusing jazz, funk and soul with music from around the world. Xan describes his sound as ' free-range sunshine music'... Think Quincy Jones, Herbie Hancock and Stevie Wonder in the making... Xantoné's first single releases were "Search For The Sun" and "The Dance" both receiving critical acclaim and club/radio airplay from international luminaries including Masters At Work, Gilles Peterson, Kyoto Jazz Massive and Jazzanova.

Xantoné Blacq in 2006
Xantoné Blacq releases his original "Yes I Do" and a future funk interpretation of the Beatles hit "Drive My Car" feat. "Pee Wee" Ellis on 12" single this summer (Japan release date 3rd July / UK release date 17th July). Both tracks are aimed directly at the dancefloor with squelchy basses, fiery horn riffs and the funk madness taken to extremes by master Sax Funkster Alfred "Pee Wee" Ellis who played, wrote and arranged many of James Brown's greatest hits.
The single precedes the release of Xantoné's album "To The Heavens And Beyond" (Japan release date July 2006 / UK release date September 2006) which is filled to the brim with euphoria inducing Soul, Jazz and Funk. Guest performances by Brazilian vocalist Patricia Marx, Classical Indian vocalists Preeti and Unnati Dasgupta and Italian songstress Manuela Panizzo add global flavours to this colourful album.

On their third album"FOREIGNER", VON SPAR have once again put themselves to the task of juxtaposing seemingly disparate musical spheres. The spectrum ranges from electrified pop and krautrock elements to fusion experiments to clubby electro tracks. Based in Cologne and Berlin, the four musicians celebrate an elaborately constructed disorder. Like their previous releases, it defies categorization.
The quartet left the planet entirely for the duration of the album production in Cologne in late 2009, smoldering with a psychedelic heat before combusting into light-flooded cosmic haze - full of warm bass and rolling rhythms. All around, cosmic melodies shimmer clearly, aimed straight into the future. And even when the percussive patterns spread earthy rhythms, there is still a synthetic sound buzzing around somewhere, telling of the vastness of the universe.
The multi-layered vocal-parts which appear in well-dosed intervals work as anchors on this colored trip: The single trOOps - feat. remixes by Prince Language (The No Comprendo, DFA, Editions Discos) & Rebolledo (Cómeme) - combines almost R&B-ish vocals with a krauty disco groove. This contrasts with the calmness of the nautically inspired album opener Scotch & Chablis or cosmic space-mantra odes like Lambda.
Foreigner is a science-fiction album chock full of trippy pop, which tumbles through unexplored terrain without forgetting to look in the rearview mirror and allowing the listeners enough room to use their own imagination.

zurück mit seinem neuen Album „Zebra“, das auf K Records (u.a. The Blow, Mahjongg, Mirah) erschienen ist. Blau zeigt sich wieder einmal unbeeindruckt von Genregrenzen und dergleichen und bietet

Begriff sein. Zudem ist er eines der umtriebigsten und aktivsten Mitglieder der K Records-Familie!
Fred Rapid Exhibition
Fred Rapid veröffentlichte am 5. März sein Konzeptalbum "Glassworks" - ungewöhnlich produziert, nämlich nur mit Hilfe einer alten Yamaha Groovebox. Das allein ist noch nicht das Spannendste am Projekt, denn Fretzi vertreibt seine Platte auch noch ganz unklassisch: Die Songs des Albums werden von bildenden Künstlern in einem Medium ihrer Wahl neu interpretiert und in einem Ausstellungskatalog zusammengefasst. Diesen wunderbaren Katalog sollte sich jeder unbedingt kaufen!!!Hier sind einige der Fotos dieser feucht-fröhlichen Vernissage.
